Madi Diaz’s music is predominantly indie-pop, and she’s worked with some other great artists inside that circle for past remixes (most notably, her Magic Man remix of “The Other Side”), but this house remix by Gold Fields is stellar nonetheless, and probably a very timely addition to her catalog. Seeing as how these types of dance tracks have been gaining in popularity in recent months, her decision to put “The Other Side” through Gold Fields’ blender was definitely a smart one, and the combination of her stellar voice, and GF’s great production work, birthed a very solid rework of an already strong original mix.
The original creative direction Madi Diaz had for the song indeed translates well when combined with Gold Fields’ style, and the combo is sure to be successful seeing as how this sonic formula (portrayed especially well on Gold Fields’ latest remix of Zella Day’s “1965”) has already been so well-received. Maybe it’s the combination of a great vocals and Gold Fields’ soft-edged beats, but there’s something quite appealing about collaborations like this, and the listening experience that emerges forth is one that never really gets old no matter how many times you hit play. Look for remix to featured on Madi Diaz’s upcoming EP, The Other Side, that will feature this remix plus one from Magic Man, and the album track. Their full-length, Phantom will follow later this year around late Summer/Fall.
