We would have never guessed that the fledgling duo, MOORS, would be the next name to handle official remix duties for James Vincent McMorrow’s “Cavalier”, but after giving it a listen, it’s quite obvious that this is a match made in subdued soul and hip-hop heaven. The Los Angeles pair is made up of HH (production), and Kieth Stanfield (rapping), and though MOORS has already put out some great remixes, this is probably their highest profile effort to date, and we think it’s going to put them on the map for sure. JVM has one of the more distinct falsetto’s out there right now, so MOORS had a pretty solid head start going into the project, but the guys have come up with a creative take on the original track, and in place of trying to inject a ton of energy into the mix, they’ve opted for a production style that compliments JVM’s voice perfectly, pumping up the chill factor to eleven.
Check out MOORS’ other work if you’re digging this, and be ready for these guys to make waves in the coming months. The duo is about to embark on their first live show, and it’s with Com Truise this October, so already, they’re making tangible moves. This remix of theirs here embraces a whole new approach to song composition, and the finish is of such a high quality that you could mistake it for original production work, so with that in mind, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for more from the two talents. Of course, enjoy the fact that we get more adorned vocals of JVM’s to add to all those lazy Sunday afternoon playlists, too.
